In 1883 Motoyasu published a multi-volume, woodblock-printed picture book entitled Bunrin Gafu (i.e., Multiple Designs Picture Album). Volume fourteen included the fourteen pictures of flowers and (or) birds shown in this gallery. Click on a picture to enlarge it. Motoyasu’s drawing style was influenced by a Chinese painting style practiced largely by amateurs whose objective was to reveal their subject’s spirit rather than its form (i.e., true shape and colors).
